Civil Site Work

Grading, excavation, drainage and utilities, self-performed with owned equipment and Trimble Earthworks GPS on every excavator and dozer.

Site work that sets up the whole job

Our civil site work services encompass a broad spectrum of activities, including grading, excavation, drainage, and utilities. We collaborate with clients to ensure that their sites are prepared efficiently and effectively for construction, meeting all regulatory and safety standards. When the dirt is right, every trade that follows works faster, so we treat site work as the foundation of the schedule, not a line item.

Precision Construction is a heavy civil contractor based in Carencro, in the heart of Acadiana. We self-perform critical scopes with in-house crews and owned equipment. That gives us direct control over safety, quality, production and schedule on complex, logistics-driven sites, from industrial pads to federal flood control work.

GPS machine control on the fleet

Our excavators and dozers are equipped with Trimble Earthworks GPS technology, ensuring precision and accuracy in every task we undertake. Grade is checked against the design model in the cab, which cuts rework, protects the subgrade and keeps quantities where the plans say they should be.

Earthwork at real scale

Our project profiles show what that looks like in the field. On the Comite River Diversion for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers we cleared and grubbed roughly 100 acres, excavated about 1.1 million cubic yards and placed about 320,000 tons of stone, then tied existing canals in through new drainage pipe connections. At Pelican Island we placed 1.5 million cubic yards of embankment to raise and rebuild a containment dike in marsh conditions, with access and staging planned around the terrain.

Industrial sites follow the same discipline. For First Solar we delivered a turnkey heavy civil site package for a 550,000 square foot manufacturing facility: 640,000 cubic yards of embankment, 4,000,000 square feet of lime stabilization, 1,500,000 square feet of cement-treated subbase and 40,000 tons of aggregate, plus the water, sewer and storm systems. On Project Eagle, an Amazon distribution facility, the site package covered import, crushed stone base, lime-stabilized soils, complete storm drainage and complete water and sanitary sewer.

Utilities in the same package

Underground utilities are one of our core capabilities, so drainage, water and sewer can be built by the same crews that grade the site. One contractor carrying earthwork and wet utilities means fewer handoffs, fewer conflicts in the trench and one schedule to manage. If you have a site package to price in Lafayette, Baton Rouge or anywhere across the Gulf South, send it to our estimating team.

FAQ

Questions aboutcivil site work

01What does civil site work include?

Our civil site work covers grading, excavation, drainage and utilities, plus the clearing, embankment, soil stabilization and base work that prepare a site for construction. We prepare sites to meet regulatory and safety standards.

02Do you use GPS machine control?

Yes. Our excavators and dozers are equipped with Trimble Earthworks GPS, so grading is checked against the design model as the work is done.

03Do you self-perform site work?

Yes. We self-perform critical scopes with in-house crews and owned equipment, which gives us direct control over safety, quality, production and schedule.

04Can utilities be part of the same site package?

Yes. On First Solar we installed the water, sewer and storm utility systems as part of the heavy civil site package, and on Project Eagle the package included complete storm drainage and complete water and sanitary sewer.
