Structural Concrete

Cast-in-place reinforced and post-tensioned concrete, from slabs, columns and walls to mass concrete placed by barge.

The part of the building that carries everything

Structural concrete, also known as reinforced concrete, is the part of the building that supports the weight of everyone and everything inside of it. It is normally cast-in-place, meaning it is poured, reinforced, and cured in its final position during the early phases of construction. Foundations, slabs, columns, and some types of walls can be cast on site, especially large segments that would be difficult to transport.

Structural concrete contains metal reinforcement, like steel rebar or post-tension systems, that allows it to bear the entire weight of the building without failure. Most projects combine elements cast on site with precast pieces like stairs, footings, and support beams.

Structural and mass concrete at scale

Structural and mass concrete is one of our core capabilities. On the Comite River Diversion we built a 40,000 cubic yard major concrete structure as the USACE prime. At Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium we placed about 20,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place vertical concrete in an active campus environment. On Project Eagle, an Amazon distribution facility, our turnkey civil and structural package included roughly 10,000 cubic yards of concrete.

Concrete where trucks cannot go

Some of our most demanding pours are in marine and coastal settings. At Lost Lake, a USACE project on a remote island, we placed more than 6,000 cubic yards of mass concrete delivered by barge, and met strict ACI mix-time requirements through complex marine logistics and weather windows. At Pelican Island we built concrete structures in marsh conditions as part of a coastal dike rehabilitation.

Mass concrete delivered to an island by barge, on a clock, takes discipline. That discipline translates directly to constrained pad pours and aggressive industrial pour schedules on land.

Self-performed from foundation to frame

With in-house crews and owned equipment, we control the sequence from foundations through vertical concrete. For owners and general contractors in Lafayette, Acadiana, Baton Rouge and across the Gulf South, that means one accountable team for the structure. Send your structural concrete package through the Bids option on our contact form.

Every job runs under the same safety program: daily job safety analyses before each task, routine site inspections, enforced PPE and full compliance with OSHA regulations, set from the top of the company down. With more than 300 jobs completed, that program is part of what owners get with every package we build.

FAQ

Questions aboutstructural concrete

01What is structural concrete?

Structural concrete, also called reinforced concrete, is the part of a building that carries its weight. It is usually cast-in-place and reinforced with steel rebar or post-tension systems.

02Do you place mass concrete?

Yes. Our project profiles include a 40,000 cubic yard major concrete structure on the Comite River Diversion and more than 6,000 cubic yards of mass concrete at Lost Lake.

03Can you pour concrete at remote or marine sites?

Yes. At Lost Lake we delivered mass concrete to a remote island by barge and met strict ACI mix-time requirements.

04Do you build vertical cast-in-place concrete?

Yes. At Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium we self-performed the cast-in-place vertical concrete, about 20,000 cubic yards in total, along with the deep foundations.
